I am so late!!! We are already in February now, I wanted to post a blog mid-January and I can’t even tell you where the last few weeks have gone. I am writing this while feasting on hot buttered toast with lashings of gentleman's relish and the murder mile podcast on in the background. I’m also feeling very much out of the habit of writing.

The last couple of months I have been ………..

  • Taking up a pottery class

  • Being offered a new local job (yey!)

  • Creating little hand sewn hearts and birds

  • Starting a nature journal for 2025

  • Creating illustrations in different medias

  • Avoiding reopening my Etsy

The first month of this new year has been pretty slow, but slow in the best kind of way. The  enjoyment of hunkering down and creating things. I happen to really love my vintage fabrics and so have been hand sewing more heart ornaments and birds of course. I've taken to wearing different thick layers lately too. I have quite a few long maxi skirts I've thrifted, add a couple of baggy slouchy sweaters, wool socks and a "I couldn't be bothered" hair clip...and ta-da, comfort is the first priority !

I realised over the festive holiday that I have lived 10 years in my hometown and do not know anyone really. I have a very limited knowledge of local places and history here. So this year and onwards, I am spending more energy rooting myself in my community, looking to people, being immersed in a real life. I have got a local part time job recently too. This will be the first time in my life I will be working in the town where I live! Being able to walk to work just feels like such a treat following years of soulless commutes and traffic jams.

I also have yet to re-open my Etsy store. I actually didn’t plan this, it’s just that I put the store on holiday mode and haven’t felt any hint of wanting to re-open it. If you are not aware Etsy has been through many changes and the freedom from its binds has felt liberating. I have found it very helpful to sell my work, but I have been able to be more focused on enjoying creating without worrying if it will sell. I’m not sure when I will reopen it.

Until next time x
